Project Assignment: (for the final project; do not submit this part; this is just to keep you moving forward with the project)
Continue to develop the plan of action in the event of an outbreak or emergency (natural, bioterrorism, chemicals, radiation, etc) either from within the country or from a global source. Develop a communication plan for the community. What resources will you use? Think about possible resources such as social media, word of mouth, public service announcements. You will also need to address information to specific populations, either vulnerable populations or those who are most at risk for the type of emergency or outbreak. For example, in the Ebola outbreak, healthcare workers who were caring for exposed patients in the hospital were most at risk.

Not all states require CHWs to be certified, but this certification is designed to cover requirements of most states. Virginia is moving toward requiring liscensure.

Investigate the move in VA to require certification

Community Health Visit – make a visit to a community health service agency. This could be a Community Health Clinic, Free Clinic, Senior Center, Public Health Department, etc. Make an appointment first to speak with an administrator and other health care worker. Learn about what they do and how they serve the health of the community. Write up a report on where you went, who you spoke with, and what you learned.
