RE: Vacation and Snow Policies Updates
Vacation
Due to our restricted development and sales timeframe, effective immediately no vacation is to be taken until one month after SoftwarePackage 2.0 ships. This is to ensure that SoftwarePackage is completed in a timely fashion, as well as any problems that arise 30 days after the ship date. Sick days are still available during this time. If you use your sick days and continue to miss work, you will be docked pay for those days that you miss.
Snow Policy
Unless the Albany area is in a state of emergency, all employees are expected to be here on days that it snows OR if management decides to close the office. If for any reason you cannot come to work, you will be docked for the days that you miss, unless you work from home. If you work from home you must be connected to the office via VPN during your work hours. A status report must be sent to your manager including what you did while you were home. If you are a developer, you must send a copy of your CVS logs to your manager. Finally, if you are working from home you must notify your manager, and have a phone accessible to you during your working hours. This will allow co-workers to keep in touch if any problems arise. Failure to follow these rules will result in docked pay for that day.
Exceptions
Exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Short-term Vacation Policy B
Were almost finished with SoftwarePackage 2.0. While were in this final stretch, until one month after SP 2.0 ships, no new vacation days will be approved because we need everyones expertise to finish the product. Of course, you can still take a paid sick day if you need it. (Employee pay is only docked if more sick days are taken than are allotted; if youd like to know how many sick days you have remaining, just phone Cynthia at x3366.)
Snow Policy
If Albany County has a snow emergency declared, please stay home for your safety. We will close the office, and you will receive full pay.
Occasionally, even when Albany doesnt declare a snow emergency, it will be too dangerous for you to come to work, and we will close the office. Simply call the office in the morning to see if its been closed. In this case, too, you will receive full pay.
And finally, if you decide it is too dangerous to come to work, even though the office is open, you may work from home and receive full pay. To work from home during a snow day:
