You are to propose an empirical research study on any topic within Cognitive Psychology. Literature Review- Present an overview of the problem you propose to study. Mention any relevant theories and quickly review previous research that bears on the problem. Cite any mentioned shortcomings in the previous research that bears on the problem. End your brief (2-3 pages) literature review with a clear and precise research hypothesis. For example: Based on the foregoing, I expect that participants under the influence of 10 cc of alcohol will remember fewer words than a control group who receives 10 cc of water. Dont forget to consult the various journals and books on cognitive psychology in the library and also the PSYLIT computer database for summaries of journal articles.
Method- Briefly describe the methods and procedures you will use in your study. Who will your participants be? What procedures will you follow? What will your participants have to do? Will you be using any special instructions or equipment or stimuli or data collection techniques?
Results- Briefly and simply provide a concise summary of the data you expect to collect. What group differences do you predict will occur? What relationships do you expect to observe between your variables? What will these findings tell us about the literature you reviewed previously? Do you expect to support your hypothesis?
References. Your References section should start on a separate page and contain 5-10 APA style book or journal article citations that were cited in your literature review.
